KIM TANNER, RMT, CNMT
Kim is a dedicated Registered Massage Therapist and Certified Neuromuscular Therapist who began her journey in the massage therapy field in 2002. She practices massage therapy with a compassionate touch and offers therapeutic techniques including Swedish massage, myofascial release, Graston Technique® and MediCupping™.
Kim has devoted many years to the treatment of temporomandibular joint dysfunction and muscle tension dysphonia in association with dentists, physicians, speech and language pathologists and other allied health professionals, however, she is skilled in treating a wide variety of health conditions and is committed to helping patients of all ages and from all walks of life improve their health and wellness through massage therapy and practical solutions. She has completed continuing education in pain management, post-traumatic stress disorder, anxiety and stress reduction, the mind/body connection and has extensive experience in treatments involving the head, neck and shoulders and ailments involving the forearms, wrists and hands and the ankles and feet.
Kim's treatment approach is therapeutic, incorporating a variety of techniques with varying depth and pressure for optimal relief while still striving to create a relaxation and rejuvenation response. Helping to manage chronic and intractable ailments is one of her passions. Over the years, she’s honed an approach to treat stubborn conditions that remains thorough, targeted and varies between moderate to firm pressure depending on the individual needs of each person. There are some who believe that if it’s not hurting the entire time, it can’t be therapeutic - that’s called the “no-pain-no-gain theory”. There is such thing as “good pain” and “bad pain“ and lengthy, painful deep tissue massages can be agonizing and they do not necessarily yield better results. Not all sensations are going to be 100% pleasurable during a massage, however, Kim aims for what she likes to refer to as “therapeutic discomfort”. Therapeutic discomfort is an opportune place where the body is open to receiving the work and many people find the treatment “painfully pleasurable” and transformative. Kim will listen to your specific concerns and create a customized treatment plan with you that suits your preferences and targets your specific concerns in priority order. Take comfort in knowing you are receiving quality care from an experienced registered massage therapist.
Treatment Time Tip! - Patient satisfaction is very important, but massage therapists have yet to master mind reading! Please share with us if the pressure we use is too light or too deep and if you are too warm or too cool, so we can adjust to ensure your treatment time is ideal. We all have different preferences when it comes to bodywork, and that may even vary session to session, so don't be shy, your feedback is always welcomed!
